The most remarkable thing about the Pacific is that life has managed to gain a foothold in all these environments. Unique and often bizarre creatures have adapted below and above the waves to make the most of every situation. This series showcases the many incredible creatures that have evolved to call the Pacific home.

Gone Fishing

Lifelong friends and comedic royalty Paul Whitehouse and Bob Mortimer have more in common than just their love of laughter – on a more serious note, they are both suffering from complex heart disease. Paul is an experienced fisherman, while Bob is a complete novice. Paul thought a tour of the country’s finest fishing spots might help Bob’s recovery, so the two have set off on a fishing adventure. GONE FISHING follows the friends as they fish, laugh and learn something about each other and themselves.

Cub Camp

Judy and Roger Stearns, ordinary people with a little bit of land and a lot of heart, run Black Bear Rescue Manitoba. Every spring they welcome in orphaned black bear cubs to their 10-acre facility. All of the cubs arrive deeply traumatized and alone, with some cubs being so young that they are blind and helpless. But with the round-the-clock care provided by the Stearns, including bottle feeding at all hours, these baby bears gradually recover and even thrive. As they grow, they develop distinct personalities, and learn the skills they need to survive. And, in the fall, the group of healthy and confident cubs are ready to return to the wilderness, having grown up under the safe wing of CUB CAMP.

Wild Ride
